Working with us: what the first two weeks look like
From the discovery call to the first thing you can click. A plain walkthrough of how a project starts, so there are no surprises.
People ask us this on almost every discovery call, so here it is written down.
Day 1: discovery call
Thirty to forty-five minutes. We want to understand what the site has to do for your business, who it’s for, and what “done” looks like to you. Bring examples of sites you like and sites you don’t. The second list is usually more useful.
We’ll also ask about the unglamorous parts: who owns the domain, where the current site is hosted, what analytics you already run.
Days 2 to 3: proposal
You get a short written proposal. It lists every page and feature, the price, and the timeline. If something is out of scope we say so explicitly, so there’s a shared understanding before any work starts.
Most clients come back with a couple of changes. That’s expected. We revise and you sign off.
Days 4 to 7: design direction
Before we design full pages we agree on direction: type, colour, the feel of the thing. You’ll see a single page in Figma, usually the home page, with real copy where we have it and honest placeholders where we don’t.
You leave comments directly in Figma. We iterate until it feels right, which is normally two rounds.
Days 8 to 14: the first build
We start building the real site while the remaining pages are designed. By the end of week two you have a preview URL you can open on your phone and send to your team. It won’t be finished, but it will be real.
From there the rhythm is weekly: you see progress every week, you give feedback every week, and nothing sits in a queue waiting for a big reveal.
What we need from you
- One decision-maker who can say yes.
- Copy, or the willingness to answer questions so we can draft it.
- Logo files, brand guidelines if they exist, and any photography you own.
- Logins for the domain and hosting, when we get to launch.
That’s it. If you have those, we can start.
